I think you are honest and awesome! You have just saved a life! If she says anything to you just tell her Jesus was right...the truth does set you free!

I left a Jehovah's Witness in a quandry.
by orangefatcat ina couple of days ago i was coming home from church, in the afternoon, upon entering the building i saw one on of my neighbours sitting in the foyer, she also attends the same church as i do.
i felt as if someone was behind me and i looked up to see and i was right there was a person and she was a jehovah's witness.
she attended the same hall as i did but a different cong.

Yea! So glad you have conquered the fear! That really is the hardest part! It will get better the longer you are out for your spouse! I remember being so afraid to shop for birthday or holiday cards. I was so afraid of getting caught. If it's not the year for lights for the house yet...so be it! Wait and buy them on clearance...and maybe next year! We were so afraid of someone driving down our street and starting something! Eventually...we put up lights and a Santa flag! Freedom is sweet! Enjoy what you are comfortable with! Even if it means baby steps of a small tree in a room with no windows! Baby steps!

The HOUSEHOLDER......Did you ever hear a word they said?
by nomoreguilt inso, i was just reading over confession's post about the latest tract.
it was quite obvious that the dub didn't hear a word that was said about why they quit being a witness.
so, here's my question and a statement.

I took detailed notes of all my calls. But to really listen with my heart...there were 3 imparticular that I remember.
One I don't remember the conversation or any benefit other than he was baptist and we bantered scripture for scripture for an hour.
The second was a sweet sincere kind woman. She invited me in and said "I believe if you kill a person's spirit you are accountable". The magazines had something to do with murder evidently. But she got me thinking outside of the box.
The third, a man I was trying to place magazines with about not celebrating xmas said "If I choose to celebrate the birth of Lord, no matter if it is his true birth date or not, why shouldn't I?"
These stuck with me and helped me learn to reason. I remember the people and what their houses looked like and what they were doing when I called. I wish I could remember where they lived. God bless them. -

The greatest anniversary gift I ever received
by JW Walking Away injust a little note, my husband was never a jw or ever expressed any interest in becoming one.
he just quietly and patiently waited for me to come to my senses.. on thanksgiving my little family celebrated our first thanksgiving.this day also happened to be my 11th wedding anniversary.
i cooked a large dinner for my little family and made sure to have everyone's favorite foods on the table.

Scripture quotes on items not made by JW's is considered bad
by kitten whiskers inhave you ever noticed, or noticed it in yourself, that when you see a product with a scriptural quote, it was avoided, unless it was made by a jw company?
i remember my mom coming over and on a bag of potato chips, they quoted a scripture on the back of a bag.
she picked it up and said something to the effects of it being terrible.

I remember my mom coming over and on a bag of potato chips, they quoted a scripture on the back of a bag. She picked it up and said something to the effects of it being terrible. I remember hubby and I (we had already left the jws) being shocked. Telling her it was a scripture whether it was on a bag of chips or not. She just couldn't accept the scripture if it wasn't in a Watchtower publication. Crazy isn't it? I still find it hard to think about buying things with scripture on them. It's like it has a plague. You would never see them, well most of them, walking around with a scripture embroidered on something. Especially since you mostly find it in the King James Version! I was just sitting here tonight thinking how crazy it is. Watchtower really has it's own little trademark on God!

At times I have. I have thought about buying a nice one, but I know I need to watch my temper better. Especially if I am wearing a cross! I guess I feel like I need some more inside work before I wear one. Has any one watched "Pride and Prejudice"? The one with Colin Firth that is about 3 hours long? Elizabeth and Jane both wear beautiful ones. Simple but beautiful. I would like one like theirs.

Make a statement you have found to be TRUE.
by gaiagirl injw's like to refer to their body of beliefs as "the truth", even when those beliefs are adjusted or even reversed, giving rise to the question 'if this is "the truth", then what were the beliefs which were promoted as "the truth" until the change'?.
state something you have actually found to be "true", in the sense that, in your experience, it agrees with what is observed in the real world.. .
i'll start: knowledge is power

A simple statement my dad (non-jw) made when I told him we were leaving the Witnesses: Everybody's got to choose for themselves what they believe.

What holiday is your favorite?
by gaiagirl ini really enjoy halloween.
the air is crisper and cooler, a relief from the hot summer.
the season is a celebration of the harvest, as the earth has once more provided her bounty which the people store up to last through the winter until spring.. .

Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sleigh bells ring....are you listnen'?
It's always been the most magical holiday for me. As a child I got to celebrate a few, until I was guilted into thinking I would die! But I would always secretly love looking at the lights and everyone's decorations. My heart has always yearned for Christmas. The music, the family gatherings, the snow (yep, I'm from Michigan) and the giving. Our kids joined the local church for it's children's musical the first christmas and it's been a joy ever since.
Thanksgiving is a close second! But I cook more for that than Christmas! -

Acting like they were a direct link to God and listening "worshipping" them was necessary to God's approval. Dumb ego maniacs.

First meeting after being married...It was a Sunday, which of course we arrived late due to all the new fun things married people can do in the morning ;) and we were led to a seat in the first or second row. Remember how when arriving late, you were supposed to sit where the ministerial servant on duty led you to? Anyway, here I am embarrassed about arriving late. Walking down the aisle I can feel the stares as we arrive at our seats. We no sooner get seated and get the startling name of the Public Talk: The Godly view of Sex and Marriage. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Why did we go? Talk about uncomfortable.
